Celebrating Spring at Garland Nursery

Spring is here and there is no one we would like to celebrate with more than YOU! Throughout the month we are hosting classes, workshops, and events with a focus on prepping, planting and maintaining our gardens. Our Little Sprouts will be taking home their very own vegetable garden they planted themselves. In our Garden to Table class we will be reviewing the always yummy potatoes, cole crops, and onions. Not sure what a cole crop is? We will be sharing that as well. At the end of the month we will be celebrating spring and YOU with our Rewards Members’ Day. (Not a Rewards Member yet? Don’t worry! Sign up today…it’s FREE!) Throughout the day we will have great specials, tasty treats, tool sharpening, and wonderful classes. Randy Ritchie of Malibu Compost will be here to share how to transition your yard into an organic one. There are new Bad Bugs in our area and we will review how to recognize them and how to get rid of them safely. And let’s not forget our fan-favorite, Starting Your Garden. We will discuss seed starting, seeds verses starts, when to start both, and if a square foot garden is for you. Spring has arrived, let’s celebrate it together at Garland Nursery!

In this month’s Garden to Table we are excited to be discussing these yummy vegetables: potatoes, cole crops and onions. Never heard of cole crops? You’re not alone. Cole crops are any plant that is in the Cruciferae or mustard family and are foods that most of us eat daily. They are Brussel sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, collards, and the list goes on and on.
