Gardening in the PNW: Pruning Fruit Trees & Berries

We are excited to bring you this new series for 2017. In Gardening in the PNW, we focus on gardening nuances that are specific to our amazing climate. This series is perfect for those new to the PNW or those who would like a better understanding of gardening in our unique environment. For January, we are starting with pruning fruit trees and berries. In the Pacific Northwest, the pre-spring season, while our plants are still dormant, is the best time to prune your fruit trees and berry plants. Join us as we share tips, tricks and best practices on pruning those fruit trees and berry plants to provide a more bountiful yield this spring and summer. No registration required. Mary’s Peak Orchid Society Annual Orchid Show & Sale

We are honored to once again host the Mary’s Peak Orchid Society for their Annual Orchid Show and Sale! Join us for this exceptional day all about orchids. There will be exhibits and judging of an array of incredible orchids. Shop the beautiful and unique orchid varieties, receive expert orchid advice, and bring your own orchids in to be repotted for a fee. No registration required. FREE, and open to the public.

Winter Container Class & Workshop
Sun. February 5th – 1 p.m.

Are those empty pots calling your name? Are you ready to add some beauty to your lonely containers? We are here to help! So many beautiful plants thrive this time of year. We’ll reveal them and show you how to use them to create a vibrant container display. Stay after class for the hands-on portion of this workshop. We will help you create a winter container or makeover your own container. You pick out and purchase the plants you would like, and a new pot if you wish, and we will help you plant them on the spot. No registration required. Seminar free and open to public. Cost of material used applies to after class workshop.

Little Sprouts: Fairy or Gnome Valentine’s Garden
Sat. February 11th – 11:00 a.m.

We tried to keep it as a surprise but there’s no hiding something this exciting from our little sprouts. Our fairies and gnomes are back and they’re very eager play in the miniature Valentine’s gardens we’ll be creating in our February Little Sprouts workshop. Registration required. Next in our series of Gardening in the Pacific Northwest is Seeds vs. Starts. We will review which is best for specific plants and situations in our PNW environment. We will also share how to start the seeds and when it is best to plant both seeds and starts. Gardening in the PNW is an ongoing series perfect for those new to the Pacific Northwest or those who would like a better understanding of gardening in our unique environment. Rose Care
Sat. February 18th – 1 p.m.

Like many plants, roses grow better when pruned and cared for while they are dormant. In this class, we’ll review how to properly prune your roses to encourage an abundance of blooms and a strong healthy plant. We will also share how best to fertilize and protect your roses from pests. FREE and open to the public.
