Pollination: Two different varieties are needed for cross pollination. Blueberries need a different variety to pollinate eachother. It is wise to match the seasons to the pollen can be transfered. Early season and Late Season plants may "miss" eachother pollen-wise, so make sure you plant a mid-season or like-season to ensure you get berries. Early Season

The hop plant
is a climbing perennial that produces annual stems from a perennial crown
and rootstock. These annual stems may grow up to 25 feet in one season,
but will die back each fall to the crown. As the flower matures, they
form cone-like structures, which when fully mature are 1 to 3 inches long,
yellowish green, and have a papery texture. These cones are harvested
in August and September, and then dried. Once dried they can be used for
brewing, medicinal, or ornamental uses. Alpha = Average

We carry fuzzy kiwi (Actinidia deliciosa aka. chinensis) and hardy kiwi (Actinidia arguta). Fuzzy kiwi are large, egg-sized fruit with fuzzy skin and attractive lime green flesh. They need well-drained, fertile soil, water, mulch, and fertilizer to do well here. Hardy to 0 degrees F. They can suffer burn at 20 degrees F if sunny days are followed by cold, clear nights. Vines require strong support. Hardy kiwi are hardy to 25 degrees F. They are fast growing similiar to the fuzzy kiwi in vigor. Fruit is smaller, round to oblong, and about one inch across. The fruit are smooth, fuzzless with edible skin and sweeter flesh than fuzzy. Usually bears the third season. One male plant pollinates up to five females. Vines require strong support. |
Fuzzy Kiwi Hayward (Female)-Needs a pollinator. Large, 3" fuzzy brown fruit. Lime green flesh with strawberry-like texture, tart taste, pungent aroma. Blooms quite late. Ripen in November. Plant in well-prepared, rich soil, 3-4 ft. apart with top of crown 1" above soil surface. Remove flower stalks as quickly as they form.
